Car Make / Model / Year: 1962 Mercury meteor
Condition: Unfinished unrestored
Car Description: The initial 1949 Meteor was introduced on June 25, 1948, at the same time the Ford Deluxe and Custom series were introduced across North America, and shared the new postwar full-sized Ford bodies, chassis, and powertrains but with unique trim. It used a Mercury grille and was powered by a 100 bhp (75 kW), 239 CID flathead V8 similar to that used in 1946–1953 U.S. Ford passenger cars. Meteor, as well as the Canadian Ford, kept the flathead V8 engine through 1954. The new OHV V8 which US Fords offered beginning in 1954 was not introduced in Canada until the 1955 model year. The following year, Ford of Canada introduced a six-cylinder engine for Canadian Ford and Meteor cars. Meteor models continued to use the Ford body with unique items such as grilles, taillights, and moldings. The 1952–1954 Meteors used Mercury instrument panels and dashboards. In mid-1954, some Niagara and Rideau models began using Ford instrument panels and dashes. These cars were named Niagara Special and Rideau Special and were priced around C$67 less than regular Niagaras or Rideaus. In 1954, Meteor changed to its own series names. The entry-level car was called just Meteor, replacing Ford's Mainline series. The mid-level Ford Customline became the Meteor Niagara, while the top trim level Ford Crestline became the Meteor Rideau. A rebadged, Canadian-built version of the Ford Ranchero was added in 1957, and continued to be produced until 1959 as the "Meteor Ranchero."[1] The Montcalm series was added in mid-1959 as a counterpart to Ford's new Galaxie models. Meteor was discontinued as a brand name after 1961 for a number of reasons. The Meteor name was selected for a new vehicle introduced in the Mercury line, the intermediate sized Mercury Meteor, beginning in 1962, and the entire Mercury line had already been dropped down in price (moving closer to the niche previously served by the Meteor brand in Canada) due to slow Mercury sales and the discontinuation of the Edsel brand.

Car Make / Model / Year: Dodge/Sedan Deluxe, 1947
Condition: Mint
Car Description: Swoopy is a term used in the hot rod world to describe a ride that is exceptionally smooth. This 1947 Dodge readily meets that definition, while also being a very unique full custom, with strong emphasis on flowing lines and a minimum of operational controls being readily evident. Swoopy has a series of unique design features. Examples include skinned front and rear bumpers, twin floating grills, custom one-off tail lights and crafting new reveals to replace the factory drip rails. In total, there are over 100 body modifications, with all steel fabrication. With the smooth body lines, a great set of back shadowed flames outlined with color coordinated pinstriping were a natural fit. When combined with the Dupont Hot Hues Sinful Cinnamon product, the finish is second to none. With 100s of hours blocking, coloring sanding, and polishing, the resulting shine definitely makes Swoopy stand out from the crowd. The power plant is a stunning 392 HEMI built by Power Play HEMI, complete with Keith Black pistons, Manley rods, and roller rockers. For maximum visual effect, majority of components above the aluminum heads have been chromed, including the twin Holley four-barrel carburetors. To compliment the cleanliness of the engine bay, polished stainless-steel fasteners were installed in numerous locations, along with smoothed firewall, polished stainless-steel fuel lines, electric power steering, and sending units being located away from the engine. The interior also reflects this commitment to excellence with a strong Art Deco and Streamline Moderne influence. Examples include custom dash transitioning to a full-length waterfall console that flares at the back to create rear seating similar to a 1954 Corvette, bullnose accents placed in door sills, and extensive use of Italian leather, including covering of the floorboards. Additional touches include: one-piece sculpted head liner, one-off chrome, and one-off seat buttons designed by Kenny Youngblood. Keyless ignition and automatic shifter controls are also hidden from view. In recognition of the key role served by having the “perfect” wheels, Mike Curtis, Owner of Curtis Speed Wheels, was selected for the design and fabrication. Each wheel has a total of 24 flutes that are symmetrically arrayed, with four (4) design features per opening. To complement the smooth flow, the lug nuts and valve stems are hidden from view, with approximately 20 hours of CNC time for each wheel. Build Partners include: Extreme Automotive, Ron Mangus Custom Auto Interiors, Dupont Hot Hues, Advance Plating, Curtis Speed Wheels, Classic Instruments, MotorHead Jewelry, American Autowire, and California Designs. Additional insight is provided on our build website: https://www.swoopy.net.
